The Barbados Association of Bermuda is celebrating its independence with a month of events. The first took place on Saturday serving traditional Bajan delicacies. If you missed that there are plenty more opportunities to celebrate Bajan culture throughout November. On the 16th is the ‘Kar-Ya’Own-Key’ Kareoke event at the Police Club from 8pm.
Then on the 23rd there wil be a panel discussion and health fair titled The Barbadian Bermudian connection. Details are available by calling 595-1412.
Finally, on the 30th, there wil be a dinner, awards ceremony and dancing event at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club —tickets are $75.
The Barbados Association of Bermuda is a non-profit organization that contributes to worthy causes in both countries. The organization is encouraging the public to contribute non-perishable goods to the Eliza Dolittle Society which helps to feed the island’s most needy. Donations will be accepted at each of the celebratory events.
The events are in recognition of the 47th year of independence. The title of last Saturday’s event — Food Comes First — is synonymous with Barbados’ Heritage in Agriculture and Food.
