The City Market will be back next weekend with a brand new location featuring all things Bermudian.
The newly renovated lower level of Pier Six is the new home for vendors to sell their goods
Items expected to be sold include: vegetables, flowers, plants, honey, baked goods, jams, knitted goods, ceramics, and jewellery. There will also be a food court and a kids area this year.
Danilee Trott of the Corporation of Hamilton encouraged the public to attend the grand opening on November 16.
“The primary reason for moving the market was because we had the desire to expand it and help it to grow.
“A location on Front Street seemed to be the best fit and with the renovations at Pier Six, it seemed like a good fit, especially with the weather, we can go inside. It worked out well and it has the amenities the vendors need.”
As for the opening, Ms Trott said Mayor Graeme Outerbridge will be officially opening it and there will be various entertainment including a Zumba workout.
There will also be a brief talk by the Bermuda Diabetes Association since November is diabetes month.
Also performing will be students form the Jump to Be Fit programme who jump rope as a sport.
Ms Trott continued: “Basically, all the vendors that participate in the market fall into one of three categories, homemade, home grown or healthy living. We kept the entertainment in line with those three things.”
Ms Trott said the first session of the market will run from November 16 until the week before Christmas.
“This first session is the Christmas session so you can get a lot of Christmas presents. It’s a great opportunity to shop local for your Christmas gifts.
“You can celebrate your fellow Bermudians and get quality items for presents.”
“We’re promoting a healthy lifestyle as a local lifestyle and we’re trying to keep money in Bermuda.
In addition to the vendors, there will also be a lot of activities for children, as the market is family friendly.
The City Market is held every Saturday from November to June from 8am to 1pm.
