Love and Hip Hop New York has returned and boy has the volume been turned up.
Last season was a bit stale, considering it premiered after the drama filled Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. So it seems producer Mona Scott-Young needed to pull all her tricks out of her sleeve.
For those of you who have never watched the Love and Hip Hop series, it features rappers and their girlfriends and women who are in the hip-hop scene.
The fourth season premiered last week (see cast, above) and if the first episode is any indication, this is going to be one very good season.
Four things we learned.
1. Rapper Joe Budden and ex-girlfriend Tahiry Jose are back together but it seems like there will be a bit of drama with them. They have broken up and reconciled a few times already. Since they are my favourite couple, I hope they last;
2. Yandy Smith is now a ride or die chick. Fiance Mendeecees Harris is still locked up, and last week we saw Yandy holding down the house with her baby and her step-son. She doesn’t know when her fiancé will be getting out of jail or the next time she will see him. Not a good look for a music executive;
3. K Michelle has moved from New York to Atlanta and is now on LAHHNY. This should be interesting because K Michelle was known to ‘turn up’ in a few seconds if she felt wronged on Atlanta. Will she clash with the other women or play nice? Rumour has it she had to do this show in order to get her own spinoff.
4. Old behind Peter Gunz is still trying to be a player. The 90s rapper and his longtime girlfriend/baby mama Tara live together with their two kids. They have been in a relationship for 13 years. Sounds all fine and dandy until we learn he is also involved with his artist, Amina Buddafly. Not only is he involved with Amina, but they are married and Tara has no idea. And Amina just doesn’t care and claims she’s the main chick. This should get very good.
I will be glued to VH1 every Monday night to see how this train wreck of a show plays out.
