Can’t be bothered dressing up for Hallowe’en but still need a good laugh? A host of local and televised international comedians might just have just the thing.

Promoters Kevin Busby and Javon Burchall have teamed up to bring you the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Show featuring five international and three local comics at the Fairmont Southampton Resort tomorrow night.

Busby says get your tickets quick: “They call it stand up comedy — but if you don’t get your tickets soon — you will be standing up watching the comedy!”

AG White from New York is billed as “the highlight of the night”. His online bio begins: “Have you ever noticed how every ghetto has that one white family that will never move out? AG White is that family.”

White was raised in the East NY part of Brooklyn — one of the toughest neighbourhoods — and he brings a “taste of comedy with a different flavour.” He has hit many local nightspots including the Uptown Comedy Club which has aired nationally in the US via Fox Network and the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. He has also been featured on BET’s Comic View and P Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy.

As for the evening’s host Joseph Vecsey, he is an up and coming comic who knows the who’s who of the US comedy world.

He has opened for the likes of Bermuda favourite Godfrey, Donell Rawlings, Jim Bruer and Susie Essman and he hosts The All Star Comedy Showcase at the Bay Street Theatre
every year.

Also on the line-up is award-winning Canadian Nathan Macintosh who describes his style as “ranty with a deeper perspective that’s always fresh and funny”. He has performed at numerous major comedy festivals including the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Boston Comedy Festival and Just For Laughs twice. TV performances include, most recently, the Gotham Comedy Live, The Comedy Network and CBC’s The Debaters.

Dino Vigo has performed in nearly every comedy club in New York including Caroline’s, Comix, Laugh Factory, Stand Up NY, Lounge, Gotham and Comedy Strip. He received his first  TV credit with BET’s Once Mic Stand.

Dawn B is a hard hitting comic with a big attitude. She has been featured on the Mixtape Comedy show hosted by Anthony Anderson and Royal Watkins.

This is the first comedy show to come from Busby of KB Customs and Burchall of Hard Knock Promotions. You may remember Busby from a street basketball show he organized seven years ago — or from one of his custom car shows.

“I thought there was a void in Bermuda for having fun because of all the violence and the way the economy is going, nobody over 30 is going out and having fun any more. I have friends who know other friends who do these comedy shows in the US and I happened to talk to one of them and I took his advice to bring it here.

“Laughter brings out a lot of things — if you have lost a family member or are feeling stressed, when you laugh it takes away the pain for a few minutes. We can’t go wrong doing comedy shows — everybody likes to laugh.”

Speaking of the local talent he said: “Bootsie hasn’t had a show for a minute — he has hosted a lot of shows but he hasn’t really performed so he has a whole new act that no one has seen before. Nadanja is just a straight fool. We don’t know what to expect from Eddie G but we know it’s going to be funny. Eddie G is a real comical guy — he even looks funny. He’s the radio host on Mix 106 that’s got the corny jokes. He’s another one that is trying to come through the comedy scene right now.” Busby promises that “VIPs will be treated like proper VIPs” with front, table seating, free wine and entry to the afterparty at Margarita Grill starting around 11pm.

Part proceeds from the show will go towards the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Bermuda.
