One Bermudian young man has started a business after one too many dead cellphone batteries.

Kyle Wade launched Hyper Source portable phone chargers in 2011 after he got tired of his battery dying during important phone calls.

The 26-year-old has recently launched a stronger more powerful mobile charger that he considers to be essential to everyone who owns a cellphone.

The chargers come in a variety of colours and will charge a number of kinds of cellphones.

Mr Wade said he got involved in the cellphone charger business in 2011. “The idea came to me when my mobile phone died in the middle of an important conversation.

“I went home that night to research portable power and I got into contact with a lady from China.

“I thought it would be great if I had a backup battery so I decided to embark on journey on how to make my own charger that would support digital mobile products.

“I approached a factory in China about manufacturing my own brand. I got the chance to speak to someone directly in a customer service chat.

“They were happy to help me with the process of doing that. After I spoke to the factory agent online, I went ahead and placed my first order.”

Mr Wade said his charger “Will give your smart phone two full charges before it has to be recharged again. It will hold the charge for a week if it is not used.

“It extends mobile battery life giving you 25 hours of extra talk time or 20 hours of video play back time for iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5 as well other mobile devices

“The hyper source takes four to six hours to charge can be charged using it’s micro USB port, It also comes with a built in flashlight.”

“Today’s consumer electronics devices are more power-hungry than ever.

“A dead battery means important missed calls and e-mails, no GPS when you’re lost, no e-reader on your train ride, no communication in an emergency, and an overall feeling of dread and anxiety.

Mr Wade said the chargers are great for hurricanes, travel and various outdoor activities.

“The cost of Hyper Source is roughly between $50 to $60 depending on the retailer.

“Right now the charger can be purchased via our website, www.hyper-source.com.

“We are currently establishing relationships with retailers in Bermuda for them to sell island wide.”

Mr Wade said the charges are also currently available in electronic stores in New York and New Jersey.
