The Bermuda Ball Hockey Association has qualified for the June 2013 World Ball Hockey Championships which will be held in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada from June 2nd to June 9th, 2013. http://stjohns2013wc.com The Championships will bring together the top 20 ball hockey nations in the world. The event is a unique opportunity for Bermuda to compete on a world stage and benefit from the exposure that this prestigious tournament will provide.
The World Street & Ball Hockey Championship is run by the International Street & Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF), which is the international governing body for ball hockey. The BBHA has been a member of the ISBHF since 2001 and has participated in the 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011 World Championships, the 2002 European Cup and the Caribbean Cup in 2004, 2005, and 2008.
By virtue of Bermuda’s 3rd place finish in the B pool at the 2011 World Championships, Bermuda has once again qualified for the World Championships in 2013. It’s worth noting that the ISBHF is actively lobbying the International Olympic Committee to receive demonstration sport status for future Olympic Games.
Our team has always represented Bermuda proudly and our goal for the 2013 World Ball Hockey Championships is to compete hard and earn a ‘B’ Pool Championship.
Regardless of the outcome, Team Bermuda will remain focused on respecting officials and opposing players whilst promoting friendship and good sportsmanship throughout the competition.
