More than 100 businessmen and women have rolled up their sleeves to help community projects.

The Bermuda employees from XL joined thousands of their colleagues around the world to mark the XL 2013 Global Day of Giving.

It was the firm's eighth annual event where company members across the globe help local projects.

In Bermuda 11 teams of XL employees worked in a variety of community projects for Agape House, the National Museum of Bermuda, the National Trust, the Bermuda Zoological Society and the Eliza Doolittle's Daily Bread scheme.

All the projects were employee-led and took places at Thursday.

Amanda Outerbridge, XL’s Director of Philanthropy, said: “Today we’ve achieved a lot – working close to 20,000 hours in our various global communities.

"At XL we believe giving is not just about dollars but it’s also about sharing our time and skills.

"The Global Day of Giving enables us to connect with our communities in a meaningful way.

"In Bermuda participants love it – and we hope it shows the nonprofits we volunteer for how much we appreciate what they do for Bermuda.”
