New president for women’s business group
The Business and Professional Women’s Association of Bermuda has elected a new executive.
The new committee comprises a diverse group of women from an array of professional and educational backgrounds.
Elected were: Katie Partington (president), Shannah Butterfield (first vice president), Kimberley D. Caines (second vice president), Tina Basden (treasurer), Valerie Cheape (recording secretary), Patrice Phillips (corresponding secretary), Tiffany Boys and Diana Darrell (co-YBPW chairpersons, Ghislaine Lemay (archivist), Millissa Butler (immediate past president)
Ms Partington, expressed her excitement for the talented group of women who have stepped forward to support BPWA this year. She said in a press release: “BPWA has had a local presence in Bermuda since 1975.
“The foundation that has been laid will undoubtedly provide the springboard for us to take BPWA to new heights this year”.
Ms. Partington added that women from all professional backgrounds and ages are welcomed to join.
The BPWA is the local chapter of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women. The organisation’s aims are to develop women’s professional and leadership potential at all levels, with the determination that efforts will lead to equal participation of women and men in power and decision-making roles.
BPWA’s current membership ranges from age 25 and upwards.
The Young Business and Professional Women’s (“YBPW”) group is a forum for young professional women to connect and network. n
