Fancy yourself a good golfer? Do you have what it takes to make a hole in one?

Well, if you do, you could win a brand new BMW.

The Foster Parents Association in Bermuda will be hosting its first annual golf tournament between May 31 and June 1.

Anyone who gets a hole in one will win a brand new BMW one series, courtesy of Bermuda Motors.

Lindsay Durham, vice president of the association, said: “I work at Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club where I assist with the golf tournaments.

“A few months ago I helped to organize a golf tournament for TN Tatem Middle School.

“We raised thousands of dollars for the Naquita Dill-Robinson Sports Scholarship.

I took it to our board and suggested that we have one to raise money for the Foster Parents Association.

“Everyone was on board and we began to lay the ground work for the tournament.

“My job was very supportive in allowing the Foster Parents Association to hold this tournament there.”

Ms Durham said Bermuda Motors is the main sponsor of the event and will provide the cars.

“When they came on board we decided to have the two separate tournaments on two days so that we can get as much as the community involved as possible. We found that a huge sector of the community is on board with donating prizes and we thank them.”

There will be 18 foursomes competing in the tournament on both days.

The Fee is $150 per person and that includes entry into the Captain’s Choice Tournament at Riddell’s Bay, cart fee, BBQ, drinks, on-course prizes and prizes for first, second and third place.

Ms Durham said there will also be shoot-out prizes worth thousands of dollars.

Our future

Asked why people should participate, she said: “I would encourage people to play because the children are our future.

“We hope that this shows the foster children that people do care about them and are willing to donate their time and money so they can have great opportunities in life.

“I would encourage anyone who loves golf and wants to give back to the community to come and enjoy a round of golf for the Foster Children of Bermuda.” n
