A Bermuda institution has shut its doors for the last time.

The Fish Hut on Court Street – famous for its fish sandwiches – has shut up shop.

Patrons at the Swinging Doors bar next to the restaurant said the building had been condemned – leaving Fish Hut operator Molly Brown looking for new premises.

One man, who asked not to be named, said: “They are looking for somewhere new, but that’s hard because rents are so high.

“It’s a shame – it was a popular place and people did like their fish sandwiches.”

Ms Brown, the widow of Hubie Brown, who ran another Bermuda institution, Hubie’s Bar, for many years was not available for comment yesterday.

A family member said: “We are not giving any interviews.”
