This Easter weekend will serve up a slew of options for you and your family.

If your kids want to fly their kites, hunt for eggs or simply eat a fishcake, all those things can be done at a few events across the island.

In St David’s, the Gilbert Lamb Day starts at 11am on Good Friday and will feature a slew of events for the entire family. There will be a kite competition, fish cake/hot cross bun competition, three-legged race, egg and spoon, tug-o-war, pie eating and hotdog eating contests as well as the Mohawk Grand Prix Go-cart Race.

Just up the road, a family fun day will be hosted by the Devil’s Hole Club on Warrior’s Field from 11am.

The event is free for the whole family and there will be music played by Lenky Boy, Souljah 1 and Global Movements.

Activities for the day include a kite competition, running races, tug of war, Easter egg hunt, hot dog competition, fishcake competition, a fun castle, big slide and much more. In Southampton, there will be two events across the street from one another.

At the Southampton Rangers Club, a Good Friday Community Day will start at 12 noon.

There will be a kite competition, fishcake competition, children and adult races, tug of war, fun castles and much more.

Down the hill at Horseshoe Bay, Chewstick’s KiteFest will begin at 10am. KiteFest will feature the island’s largest Kite competition including Best Boxy (Fennel Sticks), Biggest Kite, Smallest Kite, Best Design, Best Traditional Kite, Best Innovative Kite Design, Loudest Kite, and even the Ugliest Kite.

Prizes are courtesy of title sponsor, KeyTech alongside the Ministries of Environment & Planning, Tourism & Transport and Public Safety.  This year there will also be a competition for the Best Bermuda Fishcake.

To enter, bring four fishcakes to the beach to be sampled by KiteFest’s esteemed judges including fishcake king Dale Butler. All events are free for the public. n
