You can still escape the pit with your dreams intact

It is amazing how changing your location can many times change your attitude or your disposition.

This is when you allow the place to make or break you.

This is when you allow outward conditions to determine what your inner condition will be. This is not good.

As you look at Joseph, you will see that he clearly did not allow his change in location to steal away his dream.

Though Joseph was in a horrible place that others had deemed would be the death of him, Joseph escaped the pit with his dream still intact.

Destiny

Genesis 37:23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

The pit was no glamorous place. No, that pit was deep, dry, and void of the most essential substance of life — water. Yet, Joseph had with him the giver of all life — God.

God was with Joseph in the pit; He had already spoken destiny over the life of Joseph.

Therefore, even though he was placed in a deep pit where life should be done away with, the God of all creation was yet in charge of the life of Joseph.

When God has scheduled you to experience change or to be the ‘chief change agent of change’ for others, you are going to experience more change than anyone else.

That was Joseph; that was his life. Never a dull moment. At the mere age of 17, he had already experienced the extremes of life.

Yes, Joseph had experienced the heights of love from his father, Jacob, but unfortunately Joseph had also experienced the depths of hatred from his 10 brothers.

All of this before he had finished going through puberty. His voice was still changing. His height was still changing. His muscles were yet developing.

We are not sure if he had even experienced his first ‘crush’, but he had already been crushed by an abnormal amount of hatred from those who should have loved him.

Yet because God’s hand was upon his life, Joseph had to experience change. Not normal change, but what I shall term ‘destiny change’.

It was not simply change that would impact his own life, but that destiny change that would impact the lives of the nation of the people of Israel.

The time spent in that pit would determine whether Joseph would be strong enough to hold on to his dreams or let them go.

Consider the pit. Before Joseph was thrown into the pit, it was empty.

Yet, the moment Joseph landed at the bottom of that deep pit, all of a sudden that very pit became full of ‘the dreamer’.

That pit had something within it that was never there before. It has a special son of purpose named Joseph.

Rather than the pit transforming Joseph, Joseph transformed the pit.

Understand that what the enemy forms for your destruction will only bring about God’s construction for your life.

God will not allow your enemies to triumph over you.

Psalms 41:10 But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

Whatever poor, lonely or frustrating place you may find yourself in, I want you to know that God can and will find you there, meet you, and in due season get you out of there.

Your pit is your pitiful current location on your way to your final destination.

Do not give up and do not give in. Your destiny is waiting just for you. Respice finem.
