Who are Bermuda's Outstanding Teens?
Teen Services is holding its annual Bermuda Outstanding Teen Awards ceremony tomorrow evening at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel.
The mission of the awards are to recognize and pay tribute to all teens on the island that is in their senior year of high school, by highlighting their outstanding accomplishments.
Initially, for a young person to be selected for the Outstanding Teen Awards, they would have to be nominated by their high school, church, or youth organization. The OTA recognizes eleven categories of excellence which includes academic achievement; leadership; community service; sports; perseverance; most progress; performing arts; vocational/technical art; visual arts; spiritual leadership and outstanding overall.
On the evening of the event, all nominees are acknowledged during the ceremony andeach is awarded a medal and certificate. In addition, each male and female winner of each category receives an educational award which could be used towards their college education.
A Teen Services spokeswoman said: “In order to achieve our goal, we must rely on the generosity and support from individuals and businesses to make this event possible.”
The awards are on Saturday, March 23 and start at 6pm. Tickets are $35 and are available for purchase until 9pm this evening from Teen Services. Tickets will be available again ton the day from 5:15pm at the door. For information, telephone 292-4598 or 292-1175.
