Bermuda suffered their first loss of their Twenty20 World Cup qualifying bid after USA squeezed home by three wickets in Florida.
It means coach Arnold Manders' side finished the first round of the ICC Americas Division 1 Twenty20 double round robin having won three of their four games.
Bermuda posted a competitive total of 133 for eight from their 20 overs with Dion Stovell (35), Janeiro Tucker (36) and David Hemp (26) all contributing.
USA’s start was curtailed by an excellent display from Malachi Jones and at 98 for five with five overs remaining, the game was truly in the balance.
However, USA stepped on the gas and got the job done despite a late wicket from Man of the Match Jones, who finished with figures of three for 22, took two catches and claimed a run-out.
National coach David Moore tweeted: “Close but no win. End of first round and 3 from 4. Rest and rehab tomorrow and 4 more big games for qualification.”
