It’s often said that a large part of golf is played between the ears.
Well, now’s your chance to improve that aspect of your game.
A renowned sports psychologist is in Bermuda this week, at the invitation of the Port Royal Developmental Program, to pass on top tips on how to adopt the right mindset and lower your scores out on the course.
Dr Bernie Jensen, a faculty member in the Psychology Department at the University of Central Florida, has consulted with professional and top amateur athletes in a variety of sports, although his most notable work has been with PGA, LPGA, Champions and mini-tour golf professionals.
Dr Jensen will be on the driving range from 6-8pm at Port Royal on Friday for a meet and greet — with a Dark ‘n Stormy or two — before holding two formal sessions on Saturday.
From 9am-12pm at the Wardman Room at Port Royal he will hold a session entitled “The best mindset to play golf” while from 4pm-7pm at Cambridge Beaches Resort there will be one entitled “Putting: Why is the hole so large?”.
Kim Swan, teaching professional at Port Royal, told the Bermuda Sun: “Sometimes, people get in the wrong mindset to play the game when they want to understand it and are learning.
“Playing golf is about focusing on the target and getting the fundamentals right – and he puts it into very simple language.”
The cost is $75 per person. Contact Kim Swan at [email protected] or Alex Madeiros at [email protected] for more details and to reserve your spot.
