Validus donates 20k to BOM
Bermuda Overseas Missions (BOM) received a donation of $20,000 from Validus earlier this week.
Jerome Dill, on behalf of Validus Group presented the gift to BOM president David Thompson.
Mr Dill said in a press release: “Validus is delighted to... sponsor the construction of two homes in India.
“Our donation reflects our belief in the core mission of BOM and its work to construct homes in communities where a critical need exists.”
Mr Thompson will lead a team of 38 local volunteers to Kerala, India in July 2013 to build homes for less-privileged families, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity International (Habitat).
Mr Thompson said: “We are thrilled with this generous donation from Validus. Their caring partnership with BOM reflect their commitment to helping local Bermudians from all backgrounds, ages and faiths, to participate in hands-on opportunities to make a difference in our world. ”
In addition, as part of this year’s fund-raising efforts, BOM will be hosting a Bollywood-themed dinner on June 22 at BHS School.
Dinner will be prepared by House of India and a Silent Auction this will be the charity’s most important fund raiser before their mission to India.
