BFIS hosts presentation on data breaches and cyber-crimes

Have you seen this building before? It is the reported home of PLA Unit 61398, located on the outskirts of Shanghai. Haven’t heard of that, either? You should – and will after this informative presentation.

Data breaches and cybercrimes, reportedly committed from buildings like the one above, continue to grow in number. And so, too, do business liability claims under traditional commercial insurance policies.

On July 10, BFIS will be co-hosting a presentation by BFIS Donor Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP on the emerging liability disputes surrounding cyber-crime.  The presentation is at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess from 5 - 6pm with a cocktail reception to follow. Registration is free and can be made through a link on the BFIS website: www.bfis.bm

Following their recent well-received presentation to the Lloyds market in London, Drinker Biddle partners William Corbett and Robert Vinci will discuss liability for data security breaches under traditional commercial insurance policies, effectiveness of exclusions in traditional commercial insurance policies, policies seeking to cover U.S. cyber liability risks (including regulatory fines for breaches) and will share their experiences and provide tips on drafting policies and handling claims.

William T. Corbett, Jr. is a senior litigation partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath and former head of the firm’s Insurance Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of coverage and extra-contractual liability litigation and counseling in all property/casualty and professional insurance lines, with a well-developed specialty in appellate work.

Robert M. Vinci is a litigation partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath and a vice chair of the firm’s Insurance Coverage Practice Group. Mr. Vinci’s practice encompasses a wide variety of complex litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the country, including issues of insurance coverage, products liability and professional liability.
