EEZy Does It!
Football heroes to be honoured in service project
Service is the rent we pay to be living. It is the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time – Shirley Chisholm
What you do today can improve all of your tomorrows.
This is a constant message that the Economic Empowerment Zones Agency advocates within our North East Hamilton community by partnering with organizations like the Coalition for the Protection of Children-Habitat for Humanity.
North East Hamilton
During July 1-3, 2013 we will be gathering volunteers to support us as we repair cracks, paint, and landscape properties within North East Hamilton.
The properties selected include HOPE Homes, a residential facility for the intellectually challenged and a private senior residence located on Angle Street; in addition a mural dedicated to Bermuda’s international football stars will be erected on the northern side of the Jamaican Grill Building.
HOPE (Home of Practical Education) Homes provides residential care and is dedicated to deinstitutionalizing the developmentally disabled, as in many cases such individuals had been proven to be capable of learning.
At HOPE Homes, Mrs. Ellen Douglas has worked tirelessly using a ‘Total Person’ approach to help clients learn using techniques tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses.
Commitment
It is because of this selfless lifelong commitment to service that the EEZ Agency is excited to help support this facility with the repairs needed to improve the quality of life for these residents.
We are pleased to again be working with talented artist Manuel Palacio who will act as lead artist helping to create a ground breaking mural which will be painted on the Jamaican Grill building located on Court Street.
This building is owned by the Thomas Family, who are gracious community partners within the EEZ.
This mural is dedicated to Bermuda Football Heroes — Clyde Best, Shaun Goater, Kyle Lightbourne, David Bascome, and Nahki Wells.
These men are idols within our community and we want every sector of Bermuda to celebrate their contributions to international football and of course Bermuda the land we love.
These projects are near to our hearts and we must reach within our communities and pay homage to the stalwarts who are often unsung heroes.
Beautifying
During July we will demonstrate our commitment to beautifying our community and leaving a legacy for all to enjoy as you shop, walk, eat, and listen to the soulful music within North East Hamilton. North East Hamilton is a jewel, North East Hamilton, is pride, North East Hamilton is love……..join the us as we embrace the best of who are as Bermudians.
