Shaquille Dill continues to improve as he placed first in the men’s 800 metres in Waltham, Massachusetts last Saturday.
The fourth and final New Balance Boston Twilight Meet of 2013 was held at Bentley University Saturday evening. Conditions Saturday evening were starkly different to the heavy rain, cool and windy conditions that pervaded the areas Friday and Saturday morning.
Athletics coach Gerry Swan said in a press release that the 19-year-old Dill “executed his race plan almost to perfection,” hitting his target times on his 200, 400, and 600 metre splits. “He was on course for an 800 metre time in the 1:48 category,” he added, “until approximately the last 10 metres of the race when he lapsed in concentration and effort.”
Dill finished with an official time of 1:49.38, five seconds ahead of the second-place-finisher, good for a new season high.
Three weeks ago Dill placed third at the second New Balance Boston Twilight meet with a time of 1:50.05.
