Top Scottish coach to lead football course

Top Scottish coach Donald Park will be in Bermuda in September to direct the UEFA B Licence course.

Park, the head of education at the Scottish Football Association and a former hearts midfielder, will work with the Bermuda Football Association (BFA), in collaboration with the ABC Football School, in implementing the first part of the 120-hour course from September 24 to October 4 before returning to the island for the second part of the programme.

ABC football school is consulting with renowned French football coach and psychologist Jacques Crevoisier to identify suitable candidates for the new course. ABC football director Henrik Schroder said the likes of Richard Todd (BFA academy director), Kenny Thompson (BAA football director), Devarr Boyles, Maurice Lowe (BAA coach), Scott Morton, Don Vickers, Karl Roberts, John Barry Nusum (national skipper) and Andrew Bascome (national coach) had been earmarked.

This course will run from September 24 through October 4, with another phase to be completed at some point in April, with candidates being flown out to Scotland for a final exam in order to complete the UEFA B licence diploma.

Mark Wade, chairman of the player development committee at the BFA, said: “To be able to offer this level of coaching on our island, at considerable savings to our coaches, is fantastic.”

The registration deadline for coaches who wish to be a part of this program is June 30. To register email [email protected]. The B Licence course costs $950 and will be held at BFA Field and National Sports Centre.
