National Swim Championships being held at 50m pool
Sports Minister Wayne Scott announced on Friday the opening of Bermuda’s first 50-metre swimming pool, the culmination of the first phase of Bermuda’s Aquatics Centre Project.
This pool is located at the Bermuda National Sports Centre in Devonshire. It will officially open on Thursday, June 13.
The pool is outfitted with a moveable bulkhead to allow for either eight lanes of 50 meters or sixteen lanes of 25 meters, as well as a diving tower with several diving boards.
The first sporting event to be held at the aquatics centre is the National Swim Championships, which go from June 6 to June 9.
Scott said in an official statement: “The opening of such a facility on our shores puts Bermuda in a strong position when it comes to hosting international aquatic events.”
These facilities will be open to the public from 7am-7pm on Monday through Saturday and from 7am-5pm on Sundays. Entry fees will be $15 for adults, $12 for teens and senior, and $8 for children, as well as special group and family rates.
