Are you a fan of capturing every single funny moment on your cell phone?
Or perhaps you happen to be in the right place at the right time all the time and film people doing
hilarious things.
If either of those sounds like you, a new Facebook page will be right up your alley.
Bermuda’s Funniest Videos was launched on Facebook last Tuesday and already has more than 650 likes.
Business partners Kevin Bean and David Lovell Jr launched the business to give young people a platform and to inject some much needed comic relief into the community.
Local comedian Nadanja Bailey is the official host of the page.
Mr Bean and Mr Lovell own www.bermylink.com and Intelisign — a digital display advertising network.
They launched BFV when they realised there wasn’t much local material in terms of video.
Mr Bean said: “The concept was born with a view towards creating a portal for any member of the public to upload funny content on a competition basis because it’s being conducted as a competition on a monthly basis.
“At the end of the month, we will view all the videos that have been uploaded and will select the video that has the most likes as the winner.
“They will become eligible for a prize.”
He continued: “We will also promote the winner on Bermy Link and Intelisign networks island wide.
“There’s no cost to the consumer or anyone who should avail themselves to going on the page.
“If you see something funny and capture it on your phone or camera or iPad and you upload it, you may be eligible for a prize and also give creative laughter to the community.”
Prizes will include travel vouchers, dinner vouchers, movie tickets, cell-phones and more.
Mr Bean said since the page launch last Tuesday, there are more than 640 likes on the page.
He said it means the page has been exposed to about 15,000 people as a result.
“We are really excited about it because the amount of commentary that’s coming in has been pleasant and folks are saying this is exactly what we needed.
“We are very thankful and happy that Bermuda has accepted the concept and embraced it as quickly as it happened.”
Mr Bean said the content on the videos should be PG 13 but still funny.
At of the end of every month, starting with June, a winner will be announced on the page but will only be viewable by visiting www.bermylink.com. A website for BFV is being created in addition to the Facebook page.
