It is a kind of Alice in Wonderland experience when you walk into 30 Victoria Street.

A digital assistant named Alice is now greeting customers and helping direct them to the people in the offices.

Ken Lawley, assistant vice president for KeyTech, told the Bermuda Sun, said Alice “is a basic telephone directory except for the fact it gives you a video introduction and it also gives you a prompt.”

When someone walks into the building they are greeted with “Hello and welcome to 30 Victoria Street. I’m your virtual receptionist and I’ll help you contact the person you’re here to see.”

Financial

The customer then selects one of the companies listed on the directory, followed by the person of the name they are there to see.

Mr Lawley said it is a simple process and, soon, the person in the office will be able to buzz in the client.

He said KeyTech made the move  for two reasons, the first was financial and the second was for security.

“The idea was prompted by financial and we looked for a solution that was used elsewhere.

“I researched it online and found it.

“This has been used a lot all over the States and it has been hugely successful.

“We’ve had to tweak it, but it works great and works fine.”

Mr Lawley said it cost about $11,000 and will save the company a salary.
