It was ‘lights, camera, action’ in Dockyard last week as film crews began shooting a new documentary detailing an inspiring boat restoration project.
The Travel Channel team spent hours filming footage on board Cora as well as speaking to the man responsible for transforming her from a rusting old tour boat to a luxurious houseboat.
Dave Geraghty initially bought the old Aristocat and carried out a complete renovation of the vessel.
He then sold the 60ft craft, which he named after his mother, to Thom Strange in 2006.
Mr Strange has called the idyllic craft home for the last seven years and is now looking to sell her.
Down to business
Both Mr Geraghty and Mr Strange were on hand while the film crew got down to business on Friday.
Cora’s story will feature in an upcoming edition of Extreme Houseboats on the Travel Channel in around four months. Mr Strange told the Bermuda Sun: “It was an exciting 12-hour day having the Travel Channel aboard Cora. I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleased with how the day went.
“I was pretty nervous trying to keep my eyes on the producer rather than the TV camera which at times was only a few inches from my face.
“The experience gave me a new appreciation of what I see when I watch TV.
“This was my first time in front of a TV camera and although I felt a bit cheesy at times, I hope the end result will pay a fitting tribute to Cora and especially to Bermuda.”
