Bailey Outerbridge will perform her first solo concert tonight at City Hall. The concert starts at 8pm and tickets are $30 and available from ptix.bm.

She will be accompanied by backing group The Crossing Band, whose members have worked with the likes of Michaela Jackson and Bonnie Raitt.

She is soon to release her debut album. Music has always been part of Bailey’s life. In her hometown of Princeton, NJ, she sang with the Princeton Girl Choir and studied piano at Westminster Conservatory.

She has recorded in New York City, New Jersey, and Nashville, with seasoned musicians such as Andy Newmark, Felix Krish, and Shane Keister.

In 2012, she wrote and performed an original song at the Palace Theatre in Stamford, CT for the Dana’s Angels Research Trust benefit, featuring Natalie Cole, and again this year featuring the Beach Boys.

Her cover of Revolution was included in the Bermuda John Lennon Tribute album and charity concert.

Interview by
Sarah Lagan.

What makes you the proudest?

Being Bermudian makes me the proudest. I take after my father in mentioning my Bermudian heritage in many conversations!

Who is your role model?

My role model is a toss-up between my parents, Phoebe and Andrew. I try and emulate my mother’s level-headedness and my father’s gusto for life.

What human trait do you dislike the most?

Self-centeredness.

What artist would you be and why?

If I could be any artist it would be Norah Jones. I have always emulated and respected her as a musician.

What’s your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is forgetting lyrics on stage!

Describe yourself in three words…

Compassionate, fun-loving, and organized

What is your desert island song?

My desert island song is Better Together by Jack Johnson.

What animal would you be and why?

I would be a parrot fish so I could hang around the Bermuda reefs!

What do you do if you can’t sleep?

A lot of times when I can’t sleep I write music! I come up with ideas for songs and record them on my phone.

When did you last laugh out loud?

I last laughed out loud last night visiting my friends while we were just chatting and catching up.

What’s your most memorable dream?

My most memorable dream is one in which I forgot all my lyrics on stage!

What’s the most unpleasant exchange you have had with a person?

I had a quite unpleasant exchange with my parents after coming home in my car that I had just damaged!

What’s the best advice you have ever taken?

“Be excellent to each other.” From my father (Andrew).

If you weren’t a singer, what would you be?

I would be a writer. Part of the reason I love songwriting so much is because I love writing the lyrics.

What is the closest you have come to death?

When I tried to go on a no-carb diet.

What’s the best definition of love?

Chocolate.

Biting my nails.
