Sounds of reggae unite for one night event
Three reggae sounds out of Jamaica will play for one night only in Bermuda this weekend.
Heatwave III, put on by MF Productions and Wild Apache Productions will be held on Saturday night at Gombey’s Clearwater.
Rowan Ramotar of Wild Apache Productions said: “This year Heatwave Part III promises to be the biggest one of them all.
“The stars have aligned so we were able to secure Stone Love sound system, Bodyguard Sound System and Renaissance Disco all for one night only.
“The event is appropriately name Heatwave because of the magnitude of these sounds.
Household name
“Stone Love is a household name in the party scene started in the early 70s, by Wee Pow and Rory.
“The movement has spread as a global phenomenon. Currently they have eight plus selectors that can play in eight different countries at the same time.
“They also have their own recording studio which has help them remain current in the industry.
“Stone Love DJs have a unique way of blending all genres of music. It is this uniqueness that have kept them at the forefront of the dancehall industry.”
Rory will be the Stone Love selector on Saturday.
Speaking on Bodyguard, Ramotar said: “Bodyguard has been around as long as Stone Love.
“Selector Johnny, or Johnnyguard as he is fondly known, has been playing over 20 years.
“Bodyguard has some of the biggest reggae anthems in their arsenal. Johnnyguard also has a way of whipping the crowd into a dance frenzy.
“He encourages crowd participation in all his gigs.”
He continued: “Renaissance Disco is the youngest of the lot. However don’t be fooled by this because they are rated as the number one party sound worldwide. They used the term disco to differentiate the way they play inside parties.
“Jazzy T recently returned from a sold out tour of China, Japan and Europe.
“Renaissance is also the official sound of the ever popular Dream weekend in Negril Jamaica. They are have the hottest remixes of the biggest artists in the reggae, soca and hip hop industry.”
Encouraging the community to attend the event, Ramotar said: “We urge everyone to come witness this once in a lifetime event.
“Every genre of music will be played at this event. Of course Gombey’s will again be transformed into a nightclub with lights that move with the music.
“We urge everyone to come out and prepare to have a great time.”
