All good things must come to an end, and in Bermuda’s case, there will no longer be free WiFi in Hamilton.
Last year the Corporation of Hamilton and TBi ran a Beta test offering the free service throughout the city.
With everything running smoothly, WiFi will no longer be free and people will be able to sign-up for TBi’s regular rates.
Graeme Outerbridge, Mayor of Hamilton, said in a press release, “The City Wi-Fi services is available throughout Hamilton, providing visitors and residents with high speed Internet access. This service is the result of a joint venture with TeleBermuda International Limited.
“As many may recall, last spring when we introduced the City Wi-Fi service we provided it free of charge to Bermuda residents and visitors. Since last year, we have received a lot of great feedback from users of the service.
“We are now ready to move to the next step where residents and visitors alike can use the Wi-Fi service in and around Hamilton at their convenience while visiting, working, shopping or dining in the city.”
If you have a device that is WiFi enabled you can connect to the WiFi Zone offered by TBi and sign up.
The rates are $3.00 for one hour; $9.99 for 24 hours; $14.99 for 72 hours or $29.99 for a month.
People who sign up will be able to use TBi’s WiFi Zone across Bermuda with coverage in Dockyard and St George’s, although the company is seeking to expand that.
Gregory Swan, TBi president and COO, told the Bermuda Sun two weeks ago that other hotspot locations will be rolled out in the coming months to further give customers more value for their money.
The company is recruiting new locations and is asking people if they want their location to be a TBi WiFi hot spot to e-mail them at [email protected].
