The Cup Match Classic Safe Hands Award will go to the fielder who makes the most outstanding contribution over the course of the two-day match. Fiqre Crockwell won the award last season with a spectacular one handed diving catch at short leg to dismiss Azeem Pitcher. Crockwell was only the fourth St George's player to win the award since its inception 12 years ago.
Rolfe Commissiong president of Black Star Communication's Ltd, organisers of the competition, said this year's winner would also receive dinner for two at Greg's Steak House and a playing kit, courtesy of the Cal ' Bummy' Symonds family.
Chris Foggo of St. George's became the first wicketkeeper to achieve the award, when he was chosen in 2007; and to date Janeiro Tucker of Somerset, has been the only player over the course of a Cup Match career, to have won the Safe Hands Award twice.
The award is sponsored by Butterfield Bank and will be presented Tuesday, August 4.
