Talking About Bermuda Lecture Series
Feb. 27 — Learn about Bermuda’s Culture & Traditions with Ruth Thomas. Organised by the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs, the lecture is held at the Bermuda National Gallery from 11am–12noon. Admission is free.

The Bermuda Effect: What Bermuda Does to Artists: Masterworks Artist in Residence Lecture at BNG
March 8 — Using examples of work created in Bermuda, artist Donald Meyer will speak on the problems, solutions, challenges and joys Bermuda presents to the working artist. Quoting slides of work and letters of Marsden Hartley, Bermuda is not just "an array of sky-blue, pink and chocolate homes…" but something much more, as Meyer demonstrates.

Open Members’ Show
Feb. 24 — Opening at the Bermuda Society of Arts is the Open Members’ Show in both the Onions Galleries. Opening in the Edinburgh Gallery is Nests by Katherine Harriott. Both shows open from 5:30pm and run until March 15. Third Floor, City Hall. 292-3824.
New Work by Jennifer Stobo-Keats
Until March 3 — Open at the Interim Gallery is a show of New Work by Jennifer Stobo-Keats. The Interim is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am-3pm. The gallery is located on the corner of King St. & Reid St. in Hamilton. Call 292-3028 for more information.
Members’ Open
Until March 17 — Open at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard is the Members’ Open, the show where BACD members get the chance to display their talents. The exhibition is juried. The BACD is open Monday to Sunday 10am-5pm. Call 234-2809.
Bermuda showcase at the Lighthouse Restaurant
Until March 19 — In honour of Black History Month the Bermuda Showcase presents a show of art with strong African connections by Angela Ming Bean. Bermuda National Gallery Winter Exhibitions
Until March 31 — The Winter Exhibitions feature a Charles Zuill Retrospective: The Science of Art, as well as pieces from the Bermuda Collection, the African Collection and the European Collection. FUNdraising dinner show
Feb. 24 — The Centre is hosting a FUNdraising dinner show featuring talented musical artists: Eddie Ming and his Student Drummers and the Jazzy Sound of Gladys Darrell accompanied by James Richardson on Keyboard. The spotlight will shine on the catwalk during interlude for a dazzling Fashion Presentation. They will also honour boxing’s ‘Hall of Famer’, Troy Darrell and proceeds will benefit two families with autistic children. The event takes place from 7 to 9pm at #3 Angle Street, Hamilton. Doors open at 6:30pm and tickets are $15, available from The Centre. Ticket price includes dinner, there will be vegetarian food as well. For tickets or more info call 292-1343.
Star System Lecture
March 3 — The Bermuda Botanical Society invites you to a lecture about “the perfect garden lighting system” — the stars. Join Jeremy Lodge on the patio of the Botanical Gardens Visitors’ Centre. Bring a flashlight and binoculars or a telescope. A large telescope will also be available. Be there at 6:30pm for a 7pm start. To book a place call 236-5291 or email [email protected]. Admission is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

Walking Club of Bda
Feb. 26 — The Walking Club will walk from Arboretum, Montpelier Road, Devonshire. The ferry leaves Hamilton at 7am sharp. Participants should meet at the parking lot at 7am for a 7.10am start. The walks are free and all are welcome. There are cut-off points for those who do not want to walk the full distance. ZOOM AROUND THE SOUND
March 18 — The Bermuda Zoological Society will hold its 12th annual 7.2 Mile Fun Run/Walk/Roll around Harrington Sound. Entry forms are available at the Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo Front Desk, The Sportseller, Winners Edge or download form at www.bamz.org. The entry fee is $10 by noon, Friday, March 17, 2006. The late fee is $15, late entries will be accepted when registration opens on Saturday, March 18, 2006. The event is sponsored by Nature Valley.

Ramsey Lewis
Feb. 24-25 — Jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis takes audiences back through his 40-year career, featuring familiar melodies of the past and new tunes that identify the present.
