We don't need a fast bowling coach
Bermuda coach Gus Logie dismissed speculation in the Royal Gazette that Croft would be brought on board to work with the island's quicks.
He said neither he nor the board had received any communication from Croft and were happy with the coaching team that was currently in place.
"Colin Croft hasn't approached us. I know he's a journalist so maybe he will get a job at the Royal Gazette," joked Logie yesterday.
But the coach insisted that Bermuda would not be appointing any specialist fast bowling coach at this stage.
"If we got a fast bowling coach we'd need to look at getting a spin bowling coach as well because we have a lot of spinners, and then where does it stop?
"We've had fast bowling clinics in the past. We have had Joel Garner, we've had Courtney Walsh, Curtley Ambrose. We have that expertise to call on when we need it.
"We have Herbie (assistant coach Herbie Bascome) and Clay (Smith) so we have a lot of experience and we do have that ability to call on people when we need that extra expertise."
A recent Gazette report linked Croft with the role and quoted the Guyanan pace man as saying: "I always display commitment, diligence, honesty, continued development and professionalism in the execution of duties. "I would welcome an opportunity to personally elaborate on my experiences, qualifications and suitability for this position."
