We can do better against UAE this time
The last trip to Dubai ranks right down there with the lowest moments of my career.
That was probably the most disappointing tour I've had with Bermuda. It was not just that we lost every game, it was the way we played our cricket.
UAE are a tough side but they should not have been beating us that badly.
It still stands out in my mind, the way we played was disgusting and I'm glad to have the chance to put that straight. We definitely have a score to settle with the UAE.
I'm enjoying the build up this week. I'm back in training after my little break from cricket and I'm just getting my head right to get back on tour.
We know it's going to be tough but this is a big, big tour for us. Not only are we up against UAE first up but we are playing in Dubai, which is where the ICC Trophy 2009 is going to be held.
That tournament is our next big goal so this tour has a major significance in our preparations for that.
Stanford tournament
Another tournament on the horizon is the Stanford Twenty20. I was down in Antigua last week to help promote the event.
We filmed a few adverts and took some still shots and I can tell you I really wouldn't want to be a movie star. It was hard work!
We had to do about 20 takes just for me to say one little piece about Bermuda. I had to look into the camera and say "Bermuda will rise" with a whole lot of different expressions on my face.
We were at the Stanford stadium at 12 in the afternoon. We had to wait around and do some night-time shots. The next day we were at Antigua Recreation Ground doing some stuff with bikes and trucks.
It was fun. There was one player from each of the teams involved - Merv Dillon and Pedro Collins were there. We had a real good time.
You have to hand it to Stanford the treatment is always first class. They make you feel like a professional.
The staff he's working with are real good people. I was looking forward to the tournament before, but I'm really up for it now.
The first time we went down there, Twenty20 was new for us, it was a new tournament and we didn't know what to expect. This time we should be a bit better prepared.
Softball match
I should get a chance to hit a few balls out of the park this weekend. I just found out the national team is taking on Tuff Dogs in a softball match at Bernard Park on Saturday night,
They may be the softball experts, but I think we can definitely beat them. I used to play softball a lot, Sluggo plays a bit and the rest of the boys have got the natural eye for the ball.
I think we'll be alright for batters, I don't know about the fielding and the logistics of it. I don't know if all of the guys know the rules.
I'm pretty sure we'll get a few home runs, though. It should be fun and a good bonding exercise before we head off on tour.[[In-content Ad]]
