Canadian Bill Walsh fired a sizzling six under par 64 to grab a share of the lead during yesterday’s second round of the Gosling’s Invitational at Belmont Hills.
The past Bermuda Open winner and frequent visitor to the island’s shores carded five birdies and an eagle at the par five 12th hole to step up his bid for top honours.
Walsh is currently tied at five under for the tournament along with overnight leader Zoltan Veress and past Gosling’s Invitational winner PH Horgan III.
Horgan shot a five under 65 yesterday while Canadian Tour player Veress entered the clubhouse at one under par.
Nick Jones currently leads the local professional field at one under for the tournament while compatriot Terrance Daniels leads the amateur division after carding a one over 71 yesterday.
Veteran Jeffrey Lindo shot a one over par 71 to replace former cricketer Eldon Raynor atop the senior amateur leaderboard with 36 holes left to play.
Defending Gosling’s Invitational champion Kirk Hanefeld, who shot a one over par 71 yesterday, is currently tied for 11th with local pro Quinton Sherlock Jr. at even par.
