The Southern Conference champions were eliminated after squandering a 19-point lead in a 70-63 loss to Oklahoma State at Wells Fargo Arena.
Fray and her teammates led 37-19 at the half. But the Cowgirls rallied after the break, forcing 16 turnovers to take the lead for good with just under eight minutes remaining on the clock.
The Bermudian, who had six points, eight rebounds, four assists and a steal, admitted the loss was a bitter pill to swallow.
"We never gave up. . . but it still hurts to lose a game that was in our hands. It was a great opportunity for us. We are always right there but still cannot get over the hump," she lamented.
"We jumped out to a quick start but after halftime we just were not prepared enough for the press. They were tall and lanky and gave us problems."
Oklahoma's comeback was the biggest since 1999 and left the Lady Mocs with an overall 1-10 NCAA tournament record.
If it was any consolation, Fray, who scored over 1,200 points during her college career, leaves as the Lady Mocs all -time leader in games played (131).[[In-content Ad]]
