NCAA women's basketball star Jenaya Wade-Fray may have been scooped for this year's coveted Female Athlete of the Year Award.

But there was no denying the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga guard from recently being named on the All-Conference Team.

Twice this season she was garnered Player of the Week honours. ΩFor added measure, the Bermudian's eight points, seven rebounds and career-high nine assists helped guide the Lady Mocs to its 11th successive Southern Conference regular season crown in a recent 92-62 blowout of Samford Bulldogs.

Fray and her teammates completed the regular season with an overall 21-8 record and went 16-4 in conference play, thanks in no small part to Fray's average of 13.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

The Lady Mocs will go into this week's Southern Conference Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina as the top seeds with expectations and confidence in the camp both running high.

The team is hopful of qualifying for the NCAA basketball tournament as the number one seed from the Southern Conference. The NCAA Tournament is the pinacle for any college basketball player, and it is also known 'March Madness' for the month-long basketball festival.

Fray said: "We are starting to gel and play as a team. Our best is yet to come and hopefully we'll be peaking during the conference tournament."[[In-content Ad]]
