It’s one of the quietest weeks of the year in the shipping world, with just two arrivals into Bermuda.
They are the usual suspects that have serviced the island all year.
The Bermuda Islander pulls in to Hamilton first thing on Thursday morning from Salem, New Jersey.
Despite the public holiday, the docks will remain open between 1pm and 4pm for container deliveries.
This will be the Islander’s 45th trip across the Atlantic of the year.
She has another six trips to complete before the end of 2010.
As of next week, the usual cargo of foods, construction materials and supplies will include Christmas trees in preparation for the festive season.
Meanwhile, the Oleander arrives in Hamilton on Sunday morning.
She sets off from New Jersey on Friday on her 46th journey of the year and heads back to the U.S. next Tuesday.
It’s a cruise liner-free week for the first time in more than six months.
The next ship to arrive is the Enchantment of the Seas, which will stop at Dockyard on Monday morning.
It will be the last cruise call of 2010 in the west end.
After that Hamilton hosts the last three cruise arrivals of the year — two at the end of November and one just before Christmas.
