TUESDAY, MAY 15: Mitchelle Trott is ready to mesmerize you with his skills and talents this weekend.
The well-known Bermudian tap dancer, singer, and alto-sax player will take to the City Hall stage in a multi-talent show with 14 artists on Friday, May 18 at 8pm. This extravaganza of Bermudian talent is entitled: “Heart Beat is the Rhythm”. With the featured band “DIA”, Devils’ Isles Apocalypse, taking centre stage, Trott’s dance moves will astound you.
In 2008, Trott and Rakki Scott received a standing ovation when they opened the Bermuda Jazz Festival with Alicia Keys and Beyonce on the bill and this was followed up in 2010 when Toni Braxton was a guest artist.
Locally he was inspired by Suzette Harvey, (dance), Wendell “Shine” Hayward (horns), Gloria McCully (piano) and his legendary aunt, June Caisey. With performances in Boston and Toronto, Trott's 21 years of experience comes to the fore in this command performance.
Trott will bring back memories of his American dance heroes Savion Glover and Gregory Hines. The show is filled with energy and “indigenous Bermuda music”. No wonder Bermuda’s leading showman and legend Gene Steede has come out of retirement to be a part of the show with his numerous jokes and ballads that will make you think Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. are alive. The show will be filled with additional surprises that will leave you speechless.
Tickets are $35 for regular admission and $65 for patrons and can be purchased from Chewstick, Kit ‘n’ Caboodle and Rock Island.
