Traffic advisory: Point Finger Road access to Botanical Gardens temporarily restricted
THURSDAY, JANUARY 24: Paget Health Services today advises that there will be a temporary restriction for vehicular traffic accessing the Botanical Gardens from Point Finger Road.
The restriction is for safety reasons to allow excavation for the new water treatment plant and subsequently to construct the new car park for the new hospital wing. The pedestrian access will remain open.
Work will commence Monday 28th January with the new access route being completed in late 2013. The alternative access route from South Road via Botanical Drive will not be affected.
Barry New, General Manager of PHS, comments: “Due to the depth of the excavation and close proximity to the temporary access road to the Botanical Gardens from Point Finger Road, we will need to close the temporary access road from Point Finger Road to the Botanical Gardens for safety reasons. This has been agreed with Parks Department. The existing hoarding will be moved south to the pedestrian footpath access which will remain open and, of course, we will be able to provide emergency access should it be required.”
