FRIDAY, JAN. 6: At 14, Philip Hagen has already lived every golfer’s dream when he got a hole-in-one at Riddell’s Bay on Monday.

Hagen used a pitching wedge on the par three 107-yard 11th hole to secure a memory of a lifetime.

He was playing with his uncle Graham Redford and his dad Graeme Hagen when he made the historic shot.

He chose a pitching wedge “to see if I could get it up in the air more so it would stop on the green because the pin was in the middle.I hit it and the wind took it and it hit the green and it went in the hole. I was shocked.”

He said his dad and uncle told him “well done” after he sunk his hole-in-one.

It helped inspire the younger Hagen to a 2 over for the back nine.

The youngster said he’s been golfing “since I’ve been old enough to pick up a golf club”. Hagen said his uncle was instrumental in promoting his love of the sport.

“When I was younger he got me plastic golf clubs and when I was older he got me my proper first set. “

He regularly plays Riddell’s Bay and the 11th hole was one of his favourites even prior to his shot.

He joined junior golf three years ago and has steadily improved his game. He now carries a 19 handicap.
