Female cricketers helped raise more than $2,000 for charity at Lois Virgil's birthday challenge match.

The annual event at Bailey's Bay Cricket Club saw the women take on the roles of male stars for the day and play as their favourite players in a match contested between Lois Virgil's 'family team' and an Invited XI.

The family team skittled the opposition for 33 all out and then knocked off the runs with just a few wickets remaining in a low-scoring, but fun encounter.

Star of the show was Suzette Albouy who played as Irving Romaine and took five catches to win the MVP award,

Nolette Tucker represented her husband Janeiro, Bermuda national team batsman, with a fine bowling display. And Cleshaunay Virgil, whose grandmother Lois' organizes the event, played as Ryan Steede - fulfilling the role of the national team strike bowler by taking a couple of wickets.

Lois Virgil, who has organized the match every year for the Bermuda Physically Handicapped Association, since her son, who was disabled, passed eight years ago.

This time the proceeds were split between the association and Sonia Lathan Gibbons, to help pay for her medical expenses.[[In-content Ad]]
