Such: We weren’t up for beating Bermuda
Such said England had come to win and were disappointed they would not be playing in Saturday’s final.
The 41-year-old, who took 37 wickets for England in an 11-match Test career spanning six years, said he had been particularly impressed by Bermuda's fielding.
“I thought it was a very good, competitive game.
“We let Bermuda get a few too many runs but that was down to the way they played — there was some good clean hitting which is nice to see.
“Batting, we felt we were always in the hunt, but we lost wickets at the wrong time.
“It doesn’t matter how old you are, as a sports person, you always want to win. We gave it our best shot and we weren't up to it at the end of the day, we're disappointed.”
Such, himself an off-break bowler, said he thought Bermuda's two spinners Hasan Durham and Dwayne Leverock, who collectively bowled eight overs for 42 runs, had made the difference.
“They tied it up in the middle of the innings. People do look to get after the spinners but sometimes it's difficult when there is no pace on the ball.”
He added that he thought Bermuda might find it tough-going in the World Cup against top players at the peak of their powers.
“I think they’re going to look to improve over the next year.
“It's going to be tough because they’ll be playing against Test playing nations, playing for keeps.
“But it will be a great experience and they'll learn a lot from it.”
