Student fight diffused quickly
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23: A fight broke out at The Berkeley Institute on Monday, its board of governors has confirmed.
The fight between students took place during the lunch break.
A press statement said the incident, which did not require emergency services intervention, was quickly resolved by the school’s on-campus security services.
It added there were no major injuries to any of the students. Following an investigation by the school’s administration the students will be disciplined accordingly.
Principal Michelle Simmons said: “We have had a terrific start to our school year without any major incidents and we are pleased that the programmes that we have in place are proving effective in developing and maintaining a harmonious school environment.
“This notwithstanding, given that any school environment is a microcosm of the broader society, we can expect that there will be negative situations from time to time.
“I take this opportunity to assure the public that our security protocols are such that these incidents can be quickly resolved.
“The Berkeley Institute continues to operate as a safe and productive learning environment.”
