Stars have two chances to hammer Flatt's
Western Stars v Flatts
On Saturday at 11am
At St. Johns Field
And On Sunday at 11am
At Lord's, St David's
These two sides face-off twice in quick succession, with the first encounter a make-up game for the clash, which was postponed on the opening day of the season.
Out of action last week after their game with Bailey's Bay was called off, Western Stars have still got a lot of work to do to stop this 'title race' from being over before it's even begun.
They've missed Saleem Mukuddem over the past few months and will need him back if they are to make a realistic push for the top.
Nelson Bascome jnr has put in some decent all-round performances for Flatts while player-coach Gary Brangman is in form with the ball.
They were hammered last week by St. David's following two good results the previous weekend.
Social Club v Somerset
On Sunday at 11am
At Devonshire Rec
Social Club's unbeaten run came to an end last weekend.
It was no disgrace to lose to Southampton Rangers but they might have expected to push the defending champions more than they did.
They'll be looking to get their title challenge back on course against Somerset on Saturday.
The west end club recorded only their second win of the season last week, with Tony Cheeseman and Wendell White the star men.
Warwick v St. David's
On Sunday at 11am
At Southampton Oval
It's hard to believe St David's are stuck in mid-table with the amount of talent in this team.
OJ Pitcher hammered a quick-fire century last weekend while Delyone Borden continues to excel with bat and ball. George O'Brien looks the best pace bowler on the island and the likes of Arthur Pitcher jnr, Chris Foggo and Del Hollis give them class throughout.
Daniel Morgan might feel he has a point to prove after being left out of the Bermuda squad for the Stanford 20-20 next month, and Warwick certainly need a big score from him to have a chance in this match.
Bailey's Bay v Southampton Rangers
On Sunday at 11am
At Sea Breeze Oval
If this was a schoolyard pick-up game the other teams would probably be asking to pick sides again. It's just not fair — Rangers have got all the best players.
Bailey's Bay are actually one of the teams that runs them close on paper, but they're just not doing it.
The loss of star bowler Ryan Steede can't have helped but even so, they would have expected to be higher in the table at this stage of the season.
At this stage there are few who doubt that Rangers will win their second successive title.
The only question seems to be whether or not they can go through the extended season unbeaten.
FIRST DIVISION
Willow Cuts v St. Georges
On Sunday at 11am
At SCC
Oronde Bascome is having the best season of his young career. He was named captain of Bermuda under-19s this week and awarded a scholarship to play and study cricket overseas.
He smashed a quick fire half-century last week and scored his first hundred earlier in the season.
Dad Herbie is the leading bowler in the league — taking an impressive five for 12 last weekend. Troy Hall and Ricky Hodsoll are also in good form and the east enders look set for a return to the top flight.
Reggie Tucker and Dexter Basden are in great form and will be the danger men for Cuts.
Cleveland v PHC
On Sunday at 11am
At Wellington Oval
Clay Smith made his long awaited debut for Cleveland last weekend batting down the order as he tested out his knee for the first time since receiving surgery early this year.
The Bermuda captain's return is great news for the country and also for his club who are looking to push for a return to the Premier Division.
Smith could move up the batting order this weekend.
Dennis Musson jnr and Tauri Tucker are two of the top performing bowlers in the league and Cleveland are looking good at this stage of this season.
PHC will miss Bermuda soccer coach Kyle Lightbourne. He took five wickets last weekend but is off to Germany to watch Brazil in the World Cup quarter-finals.
Somerset Bridge v
Leg Trappers
On Sunday at 11am
At White Hill Field
After bludgeoning an impressive 308 against Police last weekend Leg Trappers batsmen have another golden opportunity to pad their averages on Sunday.
Stephen Drake hit 92 last week but there were runs all through the side.
Bridge, by contrast, were bowled for under 100 again and lost the match against St George's with an amazing 40 overs to spare.
Police v Devonshire Rec
On Sunday at 11am
At Police Field
This is an immediate chance for Police to get some revenge for last weekend's Central Counties hammering.
It was a team effort with the ball for Rec, though player/coach Ricky Brangman hit an impressive half-century as they chased down the Police's paltry total.
It's hard to see Police reversing that result this weekend.[[In-content Ad]]
