Spin Kings rule
Chris Douglas takes 4-18
Chris Douglas starred with four wickets as Gus Logie's gamble of going into the tournament opener with just one seam bowler in the side paid off on a slow, turning wicket.
An unbeaten half-century from David Hemp was the cornerstone of Bermuda's 220 for 7, with Stephen Outerbridge (39) and Douglas (39) also making valuable contributions.
Cayman won the toss and put Irving Romaine's men into bat with Lionel Cann pushed up the order into a pinch-hitting role.
The St. David's skipper scored a quick-fire 24 as he and Douglas posted 50 for the first wicket.
Spinner Alessandro Morris, the pick of the Cayman bowlers with 2 for 30, put the brakes on, taking the wickets of Oronde Bascome and Romaine.
But Outerbridge and Hemp rallied to take Bermuda to a respectable score.
Cayman made a good start with Ainsley Hall and teenager Ramon Sealy putting on 49 for the first wicket. But the introduction of slow bowlers Rodney Trott and Delyone Borden turned the tide in Bermuda's favour.
Three wickets fell for just three more runs as the spinners smothered Cayman's batsmen.
Miserly bowling from Borden (one for seven from seven overs) and Romaine (one for 24 from ten) helped tighten the screw as Douglas cashed in, taking 4 for 18 in eight overs from the other end.
Troy Taylor and Marlon Bryan managed to cling on for Cayman to bat out their overs. But they finished well short on 147 for 9.
