Something for everyone this New Year's Eve

FRIDAY, DEC. 23: Pier 6 party organizers seem convinced that 2012 could mark the end of the world and so they are going to party like there’s no tomorrow.

The dropping of the onion is back again in St George’s whose community has pulled together to fund a unique celebration including an outdoor photographic projections and a laser show. Popular entertainer David Bootle will be shaking up the Fairmont Southampton Hotel while Jimmy Keys will be creating giggles and guffaws with his variety show style fun and games. There really is something for everyone this New Year’s Eve...

NYE in St George’s:
Where: St George’s
Time: 6:30pm to 1am
Cheap, cheerful and truly unique. The Christmas spirit is alive as old town community members proved by funding this special New Year’s Eve celebration. Photos by local artists will be projected onto old buildings along Water Street, there will be a kid’s zone and festivities at King Square and Ordnance Island music by The Working Title Band and Reality Sound System from 9:30pm, the dropping of the onion just before midnight and a 15-minute laser show followed by a DJ.

2012: Party Like There’s No Tomorrow:
Where: Pier 6, Front Street, Hamilton
Time: 10pm
Tickets: $60 available from Jazzy Boutique, Kit & Caboodle (more at the door).
Organizers are willing revellers to party like it’s their last because…who knows… 2012 could herald the end of the world! They are throwing “the most epic New Year’s Eve party that this little rock has ever seen! We’ve locked off Pier 6 for a legendary night that’s sure to go down in history!”
Featuring music by YGS, King Jyrus, DJ Smokey, Imega, DJ Aztec there will be everything from hip hop to house and R&B to reggae. There will be special giveaways as well as a champagne toast at midnight.

The Biggest Party of the Year with Dave Bootle:
Where: Fairmont Southampton Hotel
Time: 6:30pm
Price: Windows on the Sound — $149, The Newport Room — $239, The Waterlot Inn — $249 (per person includes gratuities). Why not eat, sing and dance your way into 2012 with former Henry VII singer and pianist Dave Bootle? He is coming to the island for this one off gig to ring in the New Year.
After dinner from 10pm the party continues in the Mid Ocean Amphitheatre. Organizers say: “Dave’s incredible musical talent and trade-mark non stop performance shouldn’t be missed!” DJ Leigh closes the night. Tickets include dinner, admission to the Mid Ocean Amphitheatre, a “Bootle Bomb Martini” and can be purchased at bdatix.com, or the concierge desk at the hotel. Children under 18 are not permitted in the Mid Ocean Amphitheatre. Tickets need to be presented at both the dinner and after party.

Harley’s celebration:
Where: Harley’s, Hamilton Princess:
Time: 6pm to 10:30pm.
Harley’s is putting on a lavish six-course dinner for $125 per person, plus 17 per cent gratuities including a glass of Champagne.
After your dining you can head over to The Heritage Court for live music and champagne toasts.

The Tony Bari Trio rings in the New Year:
Where: Waterlot Inn
Time: 9pm-1am

Ring in the New Year with The Tony Bari Trio at the Waterlot Inn. Bari and his band will play from 9pm-1am. Waterlot Inn is serving a four-course dinner for $159/per person plus gratuities. Call the concierge at 238-8000 to reserve a table.

Rock the Beach

Bermuda Bistro at The Beach will be transformed into a “super Sexy and super exclusive and super sophisticated all round night club” this New Year’s Eve. Includes open bar from 10pm to 11pm and tunes by DJ Rusty and New Era.
