Some need a 'burning bush moment' to find direction

Mankind is tripartite. That is, our total being is composed of our spirit, our soul, and our body.

The obvious goal is to have all three parts of mankind working in harmony with each other. In other words, you should not be fighting against yourself.

Consider Moses in that third verse. He had already seen the burning bush.

However, Moses made a conscious choice to investigate the burning bush, and invested who he was in the situation concerning the burning bush.

Moses said, “I will”. What a powerful confession that was. The statement represented the turning point in Moses’ life.

Moses was ready to give an earnest ear of attention to what God wanted to communicate to him.

God is always speaking. And the constant question is, “Are you listening?”  The proof that one is hearing and listening to obey the voice of God is that your life and your destiny are no longer about what you desire; it becomes what God desires of you.

What a challenge it is, in the 21st century, to hear God’s voice and then set out to obey Him.

Many people have lost confidence in the local church and the pastor. Interestingly enough, those of us “new kids on the block”, have to be judged and consequently mistrusted because of the actions of our predecessors.

Not only that, but this is a time of many distractions. In this modern age of technology, many prefer to go to church at home and be a congregation of one, for the televangelist.

On the other hand, far too many have never been introduced to church in the first place and so it is extremely difficult for them to connect with a God whom they do not know.

Daily, I look into the eyes of the modern day Moses, who have not yet figured out what they should be doing.

Hence, as Moses conformed to the lifestyle of a shepherd, under the direction of Jethro, today’s Moses conforms to the lifestyle of the streets, the bars, and other places that have nothing to do with the potential that lies dormant within him.

Yet, this story of Moses encourages us to not give up on anyone. Perhaps, the many lost souls in Bermuda will experience a burning bush moment.  That is, a moment when God is able to get their attention, call their name, and call them into purpose.

Note that Moses saw a “great sight”. The only way that our young people and adults alike will change the current direction of their lives is if they see something great. That is, something greater than what they are currently experiencing; something that only God can do.

From the moment Moses gave his will over to the will of God, every move he made was one of destiny. Moses was then set on the mission of his life. Note that his mission was not for him personally; it was for the people of God. Moses was able to move beyond a place of being stuck, and bring about change in a nation held in bondage.

May Bermuda begin to experience the effects of those who will allow their will to be conformed to the will of God. Let’s change this generation for the good of generations to come. Respice finem.
