Roy wins despite of disastrous start
Monday's Jack Daniel’s Tour event was held at Riddell’s Bay Golf Club, the wind and rain made it feel more like Winter in Scotland rather than fall in Bermuda.
Scott Roy managed to hang on for a 72 despite starting off with a disastrous seven on the opening hole, there was a three-way tie for second place between Dwayne Pearman, Derriek Douglas and Brian Morris. With the win Roy has virtually secured the order of merit title, and the title player of the year, Scott has won both the Strokeplay championship and Matchplay Championship, despite some disappointing form in the middle of the season.
The final hole was a scene of drama as Derriek Douglas finished with a spectacular eagle two, and Andrew Bissell a disappointing seven, which catapulted them in different directions up and down the leader board.
With only three shots separating the top five players, it will be interesting to see who takes the fast forward challenge!
The Jack Daniel’s season is coming to an end with only one regular event left before the tour championship which is 36 holes on November 22 and 23, to be held at Tucker’s Point.
The Tour championship will also have the Seniors Strokeplay title up for grabs at the same time, which is being generously sponsored by Leo Custudio.
The tour has been a huge success this year with nearly $40,000 of prize money paid out and Scott Roy on track to win over $7,000 with over 30 PGA of Bermuda professionals competing, it is hoped that next year will be bigger and better!
A special thanks should go to Andrew Bissell for doing such a great job with the website and organizing the events over the last year.
