Rangers look to rebound against Warwick
Southampton Rangers v Warwick
On Sunday at 11am
At Southampton Oval
Rangers were pulled back to the pack last weekend as their aim of going through the season unbeaten was washed away in the rain.
The slick wicket at Sea Breeze Oval and the spin-bowling of Rodney Trott did for Rangers in the Premier clash with Bailey's Bay. Then the rain ruined their chances of taking the Western Counties, one of the few trophies they didn't get their hands on last year.
Warwick can expect to bear the brunt of their frustration this weekend, with Janeiro Tucker's team aiming to pull away from second placed Social Club.
Western Stars v Somerset
On Sunday at 11am
At St. John's Field
The champions of 2004 are looking a shadow of their former selves. With two wins and four defeats any hopes Stars had of recapturing their title have all but disappeared.
They were destroyed by Flatts last weekend, despite the return of Saleem Mukuddem, and haven't shown the consistency to match their obvious talent.
They are in for another tough game against fellow strugglers Somerset on Sunday.
Social Club v Flatts.
On Sunday at 11am
At Devonshire Rec
Both these teams have confounded their critics this season. Flatts has done it by overcoming a shaky start to reach the safety of mid-table and Social Club by making a genuine play for the title. Kenny Phillips is doing well for Social Club and is one of the top bowlers in the league right now. And they've proved that they are more than a one-man team with the bat, riding out a run of low scores from Charlie Marshall to keep their good run going. Nelson Bascome jnr took seven wickets for Flatts last weekend, though, so Social Club will be aware of him as they bid to keep the pressure on Rangers.
St. David's v Bailey's Bay
On Sunday at 11am
At Lord's
Buoyed by their surprise victory over Rangers last weekend, Bay will be looking to revive a faltering season at Lord's on Sunday.
Stephen Outerbridge had a decent knock in that game and will be looking to press home his national team and Cup Match claims. St David's, despite the odd slip-up, are having a good season and this should be an interesting game.
First Division
Cleveland v Devonshire Rec
On Sunday at 11am
At Wellington Oval
Clay Smith will be back at the top of the order for Cleveland for this promotion 'four-pointer'.
The Bermuda captain and Cleveland player/coach believes this is a game his side needs to win and he'll be attempting to lead from the front. His side have done pretty well without him and currently sit on top of the pile, but Smith's runs could sure up the batting order to add to the flair of their seam-bowling attack as they make a genuine push for honours.
Leg Trappers v St. George's
On Sunday at 11am
At Sea Breeze Oval
After a shaky start Leg Trappers are starting to get a good run going. It was always going to be comfortable against Somerset Bridge last weekend, though, and a much tougher game is in prospect here. St. George's will be without young stars, but they've got plenty of back-up with the experienced pair of Herbie Bascome and Ricky Hodsoll playing better than anyone in the division right now.
PHC v Police Cricket Club
On Sunday at 11am
At White Hill Field
A basement battle between two struggling sides, who are trying to get their season started. PHC are struggling for runs and were skittled for under 100 again last weekend. Police are similarly inconsistent.
Willow Cuts v Somerset Bridge
On Sunday at 11am
At SCC
After a weekend of drama and controversy last time out, Cuts should be in for a much more comfortable ride on Sunday. n[[In-content Ad]]
