Raising Cain: Bermuda males bearing some of his traits

Cain has risen in far too many males of our society.

What do I mean by that?

Well, let's examine the original Cain.

Genesis 4: 5  But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6  And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

Cain was taught right, but decided to do wrong.

Cain had inner issues that were not dealt with. Eventually, Cain’s inner issues were ‘outed’ and experienced to the detriment of others.

Cain and Abel were trained in the same house, but they developed different hearts.

Cain needed discipline, but something in him refused to hear instruction.

You must understand that both Cain and Abel were born with potential. Potential is potential because it may or may not become realized.

The outcome of stored potential will be determined by the influences of the child's surroundings and also the temperament of that child.

Is the child genuinely reachable and teachable?  Or is the child naturally prone to wonder and rebel?

Cain and Abel were two sons with different personalities. Hence, there were two different personalities that received the same instruction differently.

Two sons. Both taught to worship by their father, Adam.

You must recall that Adam, the first man, once communed with God in the Garden of Eden. Adam knew what it was like to be close to God, to hear God's voice, and to feel connected to God.

Unfortunately, because of sin, Adam also knew what it was like to be out of the presence and will of God.

So as we look at Cain and Abel, Adam’s two sons, we see that one son got it right and knew how to approach the presence of God.

That was Abel. Abel knew he had to bring unto God a living sacrifice that had been slain for the purpose of sacrifice unto God.

On the other hand, Cain approached God in error. Cain's heart was wrong and therefore Cain had a wrong approach to God.

Cain missed the heart of God and the heart of his father, as he brought to God an unworthy sacrifice. Cain's sacrifice did not adequately represent him. So, in essence, Cain never truly presented himself to God.

Now this is where I desire to have all to understand that Bermuda is filled with and overrun by ‘Cains’.

Too many of our sons do not sacrifice unto God or communicate with God.

No, their gods are money, jewellery, and women. Their gods are placed before the Almighty God and therefore the ‘Cain’ rises up in our males and they will kill their very own brother.

Guns, machetes, and drugs are the modern day weapons one brother uses against another.  The Cain of the Bible focused on and desired position. Cain saw himself being under Abel and he could not accept that. So what did he do? Cain killed his brother. Cain killed the potential of his brother. Cain killed the future of his brother.

Unfortunately, Cain realized too late, that in killing his brother, he would live a life ‘on the run’. Understand that you cannot have peace of mind and peace in your heart if you are on the run.

God spared Cain's life and eventually Cain learned that it was not his mission to change the heart of God or to change God’s standards to meet his own standards.

No, it was his own choice to allow God to change his heart. In other words, you must begin the change in order to become the change you desire to be.

Bermuda, it is time for the change. And the question for Bermuda is simply this, “Are you willing to change?”

Respice finem.
