Public invited to join arts centre debate
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28: The public is invited to join in a Community Conversation regarding a proposed Performing Arts Centre Project next month.
The discussion will be held at The Berkeley Institute on November 12 from 10am until 1pm.
It will feature a development process called World Café, which aims to prompt dialogue about the function, usage and location of a privately funded centre for performing arts being overseen by charity The Centre Ltd.
Developed in the mid 1990s in California, the process has been adopted around the world to support a broad spectrum of projects related to the arts, social issues, education and healthcare.
It’s distinguishing feature is the sharing of diverse opinions and the encouragement of lively debate.
The community conversation will be facilitated by Gordon Johnson, CEO of The Centre Limited, and Tiffany Paynter who have both been trained in hosting World Café group discussions.
“The objective of this group meeting is to make sure that we’ve given any member of the community who wants to have input into this project the opportunity to do so,” said Mr. Johnson.
