Public input wanted for next Budget


THURSDAY, JAN. 12: The Premier and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Paula A. Cox, JP, MP, is encouraging the public to attend a series of town hall meetings to discuss the upcoming National Budget.

The public will recall that Premier Cox, JP, MP, released the Pre-Budget Report, last month. The report is a comprehensive document which discusses the Bermuda economy and outlines the Government’s new multi-year strategy for budget preparation.

The report also highlights a number of policy options currently under consideration. In releasing the report Premier Cox pointed out that the introduction of the Pre-Budget Report is “another important step towards transparent Government in Bermuda”.

The Premier said at the time, that she will host a series of town hall meetings to invite public feedback on the document. The Premier will be joined by Cabinet Ministers at each meeting.

The public meetings will be held on the following dates and at the following locations:

 

January 18 – Dalton E. Tucker Primary School, Southampton

• The Premier, the Hon. Paula A. Cox, JP, MP, Minister of Finance

• Sen. the Hon. Kim Wilson, JP, Attorney General and Minister of Justice

• The Hon. Zane De Silva, JP, MP, Minister of Health

• The Hon. Glenn Blakeney, JP, MP, Minister of Youth, Families, and Sports

 

January 25 – Leopard’s Club, City of Hamilton

• The Hon. Michael Weeks, JP, MP, Minister of Public Works

• The Hon. Patrice Minors, JP, MP, Minister of Economy Trade and Industry

• The Hon. Michael Scott, JP, MP, Minister of Government Estates and Information Services

• The Hon. Wayne Perinchief, CPM, JP, MP, Minister of National Security

 

February 1 – Francis Patton School, Hamilton Parish

• The Hon. Derrick Burgess, JP, MP, Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport

• The Hon. Dame Jennifer Smith, JP, DHumL, MP, Minister of Education

• The Hon. Wayne Furbert, JP, MP, Minister of Business Development and Tourism

• The Hon. Marc Bean, JP, MP, Minister of Environment, Planning and Infrastructure Strategy

 

All meetings get underway at 7.30 p.m.
